Pre-Hunger Challenge
I have fasted before, it was for thirty-six hours when I was thirteen for a church youth group activity, so I have a pretty good feeling of what this is like. I'm writing this post so late because I'm going to fix myself a big breakfast at six a.m. and then let the twenty-four hour fast begin. My main goal will be trying to keep myself busy and distracted so I don't think about wanting to eat so much , because that would just make it worse. My stomach will start to ache and I won't be able to ignore it probably around the ten hour mark and once that first big pain happens I should be right in the middle of starting my basketball games that I officiate, which will help cut some time and keep my occupied. After that five hours is up and my officiating is over with, I will be up to hour fifteen so I should be starting to feel a good amount of fatigue, weakness, and exhaustion. This all falls in perfectly with my plan because once I shower and get ready for bed, I will hopefully be able to just sleep the remaining hours off. Do I think I'll actually be able to sleep through the pains, headaches and just pure emptiness? Absolutely not, just like I went through in my thirty-six hour famine there is going to be a random moment of the twenty-four hours where there is just nothing else I can think of, nothing can distract me, and there will be an ache either in my head, stomach, or my overall body. If I can make it through those random hours and make it through the work day and only have around eight hours left to kill before the challenge is complete, then I think I will be able to finish hopefully without much pain after the initial couple hours of it. This should actually be fairly fun and quite a test to my body to see how well I am in control of it.
