Post 24-hour fast

Looking back on fasting, I can see why people are held back on their productivity. All I thought about was filling my stomach, everything else came second. That is why many countries in Africa cant gain any ground in becoming a developed country. Political instability only exacerbates the problem. I for sure gained an appreciation of our immense availability of food here in the United States. Steps need to be taken to lift people out of poverty and subsistence farming or people will continue to be hindered by their situation. All in all, as uncomfortable as it was to fast for 24 hours, this assignment does justice on how food deprivation restricts people from improving socioeconomic status. -Chris Hawkins
